Things Organized Neatly

I've been a bit rubbish about posting lately, I blame this on going on holiday and then coming back just as the olympics started. I will post more soon but in the mean time I discovered the amazing blog things organized neatly I imagaine I am going to have to work my way back through the archives now and also start organising things in my life neatly.

House Tour

I've just seen an amazing house tour on www.apartmenttherapy.com I love the use of a monochrome pallet with splashes of colour and the repeating geometric shapes of the layout, check out the full tour at http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/jessica-jonathans-like-eich-ranch-house-tour-173968

Tripod Lamp's New Home

The tripod lamp in its new home at my parents house. they've made a really nice corner with some vintage snowsports equipment and Vickie's amazing self portrait. To see some of the rest of the house go to their B and B website at http://www.enjoyportmellon.co.uk/

Finished Tripod

I made this fitting for the Tripod lamp, it's a standard unswitched table lamp fitting that I made a collar for. the collar fits the standard thread in the lamp fitting and is threaded at the bottom to fit the tripod. the cable runs halfway down the hollow centre then out the side so the tripod itself needs no modifications.

This is the finished lamp with the legs collapsed to make a table lamp.

Tripod

I found this tripod in a cool little antiques market in town yesterday and thought it was interesting. I'm thinking of turning it into yet another light.

I seem to be developing a fixation on building floor lamps at the minute, although now that I think of it, with it's legs folded down this could be an awesome table top lamp too.

Lamp Bits

The metal arm for my Actimel bottle lamp arrived at work, it wasn't the easiest thing to get home as it was wrapped in plastic and resembled a wind surfing sail and it was very windy in Bath today. I now have all the wiring, metal work and half the shade, I've got a really nice block of driftwood for the base which should get here next weekend.

The other exciting thing about recieving the lamp arm isrealising how big it is. I was generous with the measurements to make sure it had impact but it is huge. Vicki is holding it in my lounge which luckily has high ceilings, she's not exactly tall but it dwarfs her.

Lamp Shade

Actimel bottle lamp shade in progress.

Muesli

I made homemade muesli last night based on a recipe from the Leon cook book, I was a little worried when it said to put 100ml of sunflower oil in it and even more worried when i had to substitute vegetable oil due to a poorly stocked cupboard but it turned out to be seriously tasty.

Cup Lamp

Some images of the cup lamp I made. The shade is made from plastic cups stapled together and the base is made from 3 broom handles and some string. shades like this have been around for a while but putting it on a tall base makes it work really well. if you want to make your own a good set of instrcutions can be found at http://www.instructables.com/id/Dixie-Cup-Spherical-Dodecahedron/ .

First Post

I feel under a lot of pressure to write something clever here, this will have to do.
